Tex-Corps Overseas Practical Entrepreneurship Training Participants Receive Training at The George Washington University

Twenty Tex-Corps participating teams, including Ewha Womans University (graduate) students, successfully completed the “2026 Public Technology-Based Market-Linked Startup Exploration Support Program (Tex-Corps) Overseas Practical Entrepreneurship Training” held from July 4 (Sat.) to July 26 (Sun.).

The Tex-Corps Overseas Practical Entrepreneurship Training is an overseas practical entrepreneurship program under the “Public Technology-Based Market-Linked Startup Exploration Support Program,” hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and organized by the Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development, the Korea Entrepreneurship Foundation, and KIC-DC (Korea Innovation Center Washington DC). Participating teams completed approximately three weeks of entrepreneurship training at The George Washington University and the University of California, Berkeley, based on the U.S. National Science Foundation’s I-Corps methodology. Through the program, participants gained hands-on experience in validating the market potential of their startup ideas, conducting Customer Discovery interviews with potential customers, and refining their business models.

Two teams involving Ewha students and one team from another university affiliated with the Ewha Womans University Node were selected as outstanding teams in the program. The Dial team, which included Ewha graduate students Shin Jun-young and Park Ji-min, developed an “AI smart-care call service for maintaining everyday cognitive vitality among active seniors.” The KC Biome team, which included Ewha student Lee Eun-young, developed “high-functional derma cosmetics for teenagers with antibacterial and moisturizing properties using marine yeast-derived bioconversion technology.” The Hatch team, which included Shinhan University student Lim So-hyun from the Ewha Womans University Node, developed an “AR rescue navigation system for firefighters based on smoke-through vision and spatial intelligence.” All three teams were recognized as outstanding teams for their achievements in market validation and business model refinement, providing an opportunity to confirm the potential of their startup ideas for entering global markets.

As a Node institution for the Women-Focused Public Technology-Based Market-Linked Startup Exploration Support Program, Ewha Womans University’s Startup Support Foundation operates a range of programs to support the commercialization of outstanding research 成果 at the university and promote the discovery of aspiring women entrepreneurs and laboratory-based startups. These programs include entrepreneurship education, expert mentoring, customer discovery and validation, and commercialization support. Through these efforts, the Foundation continues to nurture women entrepreneurs equipped with technology-based startup capabilities while supporting the expansion of the university’s startup ecosystem and technology commercialization infrastructure.

Kim Sang-jun, Director of the Startup Support Foundation, said, “The overseas practical entrepreneurship training is particularly meaningful because it goes beyond confirming the excellence of a technology and provides an opportunity to identify real customer problems in the market and validate solutions to those problems.” He added, “I hope that, based on this experience, the students will broaden their perspectives on global markets and grow into future entrepreneurs who take on the challenge of launching businesses based on innovative technologies.”
