The objective of Ewha Haktang is to provide early childhood, primary, secondary, and higher education based on Christian values while following the fundamental educational ethos of the Republic of Korea. (Article 1)

History

History
1880s~1940s 1886.5.31 Ewha Haktang was founded by Mary F. Scranton, an American missionary of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
1887 The school’s name “Ewha” was bestowed by Emperor Kojong.
1910.9 College course was established.
1914.10 Ewha Kindergarten was established. (Permitted by the Japanese Government-General of Chosun)
1925.4.24 Ewha Womans Professional School was permitted.
1933 The foundation divided into Ewha Haktang and Ewha Hakwon.
1943.8.7 Ewha Haktang Foundation, Inc. was registered. Dr. Helen Kim was inaugurated as Chairperson of Ewha Haktang.
1946.8.15 The establishment of Ewha Womans University was permitted. (The First University the Ministry of Education gave a permission)
1950s~1960s 1955.2.28 Ewha Elementary School was established.
1958.4.9 Ewha Middle School was established.
1958.2.15 Ewha High School was established.
1958.4.9 The Methodist School Foundation took over Kookje University.
1960.3.31 Kumnan Girls` Middle and High School were established.
1964.1.8 Ewha Haktang was registered as an educational foundation due to the organizational change.
1968.12.11 Kumnan Girls` Middle and High School were registered as an affiliated school of Ewha Womans University.
1969.1.10 Youngran Girls` Middle School and Commercial High School were established as an affiliated school of Ewha Womans University.
1970s~present 1970.3.19 Dr. Eun-Sook Seo was inaugurated as Chairperson of Ewha Haktang.
1977.3.5 Dr. Young-Eui Kim was inaugurated as Chairperson of Ewha Haktang.
1980.11.26 Sammoon Hakwon took over Kookjae University.
1986.12.31 Dr. Ok-Gill Kim was inaugurated as Chairperson of Ewha Haktang.
1990.9.1 Dr. Il-Sook Chung was inaugurated as Chairperson of Ewha Haktang.
1996.3.1 Youngran Girls` Commercial High School was renamed into Youngran Information Industry High School.
1999.3.1 Kumnan Girls` Middle and High School were renamed into Kumnan Middle and High School.
2000.9.1 Dr. Hoo-Jung Yoon was inaugurated as Chairperson of Ewha Haktang.
2001.3.1 Ewha Middle School, Ewha High School, and Kumnan Middle and High School were merged into Ewha-Kumnan Middle and High School affiliated to the College of Education of Ewha Womans University.
2004.10.18 Youngran Girls Information Industry High School was renamed into Youngran Media High School
2011.3.1 Myong-Sue Chang was inaugurated as Chairperson of Ewha Haktang.
