The Ewha Womans University Central Library Signs MOU with Gyeonggi Provincial Library to Expand Access to International

The Ewha Womans University Central Library and Foreign Research Information Center signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Gyeonggi Provincial Library on Wednesday, July 15, to expand access to international academic resources. The agreement was established to strengthen the public role of the Foreign Research Information Center and to fulfill the University's social responsibility.
The Foreign Research Information Center is part of a national academic information support initiative funded by the Ministry of Education and administered by the Korea Education and Research Information Service (KERIS). The program aims to reduce disparities in access to academic information and improve the efficiency of national spending by acquiring, preserving, and sharing high-quality international scholarly resources. Since 2011, the Ewha Womans University Central Library has operated the Foreign Research Information Center for the fields of education, social sciences, arts, and physical education. The Center has been recognized as the nation's top-performing institution in its annual evaluations for 11 consecutive years, serving as a key hub for national academic information services.
The new agreement builds upon and expands the partnership first established with the Gyeonggi Cyber Library in 2019. Through collaboration with the newly opened Gyeonggi Provincial Library, the partnership further strengthens the academic information-sharing framework between the University and the region's representative public library. In particular, it expands the shared use of international academic resources while reinforcing cooperation that connects the University's scholarly collections with the local community.

The agreement is expected to serve as a model for improving access to education and research by sharing the University's academic resources with the local community while contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those promoting inclusive education and expanded access to information.
