Ewha Womans University has received a scholarship donation of USD 364,000 (approximately KRW 530 million) from Kim Jeong-hye, a graduate of the College of Medicine (Medicine, graduating class of 1970).
Despite residing in Los Angeles since migrating to the United States, Kim has continued to support her alma mater by providing scholarships for her juniors. Her contributions began in 2010 with a donation to the One Percent Sharing Scholarship, a fund established by College of Medicine alumnae to support younger students. In 2022, she established the Kim Jeong-hye Scholarship in her own name and has since continued her support. With an additional scholarship for graduate students in the College of Medicine last year, Kim’s total contributions have now exceeded KRW 500 million.
On Wednesday, April 2, 2025, Ewha Womans University held a fund delivery ceremony in the Reception Room of Pfeiffer Hall to express its gratitude to alumna Kim Jeong-hye. Attending the ceremony were Kim herself, President Hyang-Sook Lee, Dean of the College of Medicine Duk Hee Kang, Vice President for University Relations and Development Yun Jung Choi, and Associate Vice President for University Relations and Development Hyemi Lee.

Kim remarked, “I have always felt indebted to my alma mater for all that it has taught me, and it is truly meaningful to be able to give back by using this scholarship to support students who face challenges in focusing on their studies.”
President Lee stated, “Thanks to alumna Kim’s generous scholarship, students at Ewha’s College of Medicine are growing into outstanding individuals who will contribute to the advancement of healthcare not only in Korea, but around the world.” She added, “Ewha will honor the heartfelt intent behind this scholarship by doing its utmost to nurture future leaders and uphold the highest standards in education.”
