2026 Ewha Science Festival Inspires Future Scientists

미래 과학인재의 꿈 키운 '2026 이화과학페스티벌' 현장Ewha Womans University successfully hosted the 2026 Ewha Science Festival, a hands-on science event for middle and high school students and the general public, at Lee Sam-bong Hall in the Ewha Campus Complex on July 30. Held annually since 2015, the festival has become one of Ewha’s flagship science engagement events, run by volunteers from the faculty and student body. This year’s festival featured a total of 29 interactive booths presented by the Departments of Chemistry and Nanoscience, Life Science, Pharmacy, and other departments across the university.

Notably, 29 faculty members—including Professor Juyoung Yoon, recognized among the top 1 percent of the world’s most influential researchers, and Professor Kim Kwangmeyung, ranked among the top 1 percent of most cited researchers—personally designed and led the festival programs, enabling participants to experience cutting-edge research in an accessible and engaging way.

It also aided participants’ understanding of a wide range of scientific topics, including LEDs, atomic structure, epigenetics, immunology, and neuroscience.

The festival attracted 250 young participants, along with parents, teachers, and members of the general public, who took part in hands-on experiments and creative activities guided by explanations from researchers and students. The programs encouraged participants to learn scientific principles and kindled their interest in science and technology.

The festival provided aspiring young scientists with opportunities to explore future career paths while serving to share the excitement and value of science with the broader community. Ewha will continue to foster future talent in science and technology and promote public engagement with science through a wide range of educational and hands-on programs.
