This agreement ceremony was held to form a consortium to participate in one of the eleven projects under the Seoul RISE initiative: “Establishing an Educational Support Ecosystem for Seoul’s Future Growth.” Ewha Womans University will be the leading institution of the consortium, which comprises five universities in total: Ewha, Kookmin University, Seoul National University, Sookmyung Women’s University, and Hanyang University. Key stakeholders involved in the RISE project from each university attended the ceremony and promised mutual cooperation.
The “Establishing Educational Support Ecosystem for Seoul’s Future Growth” project’s goal is to strengthen educational and caregiving functions through collaboration between local governments and universities, in response to the expansion of elementary-level Neulbom Schools and the ongoing low birth rate crisis. The consortium aims to develop a “Seoul-style Neulbom School model” custom made to the city’s unique characteristics and to enhance educational support capabilities across all regions of Seoul through community cooperation. Ewha’s participation will focus on music therapy and visual arts/art therapy-based Neulbom education programs.
Since 2023, Ewha Womans University has been carrying out the “Neulbom School Program for Lower Elementary Grades,” a major national education initiative led by the Ministry of Education and the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity. The university has been awarded approximately 1.82 billion KRW in funding for the period of 2023 to 2025. This project supports the development of future competencies and growth in elementary students.
Ewha’s Neulbom School Project Team envisions becoming a center for culture and arts education as well as arts therapy rooted in digital transformation. It offers a wide range of customized activities in cultural and artistic fields such as music and fine arts, in social-emotional areas such as music and art therapy, and in creative science education using edutech platforms. To this end, the university has built a pool of field experts and professional instructors and continuously enhances the quality of educational content through research and program development.
Through this consortium agreement, Ewha Womans University plans to lead the role in building a sustainable educational support ecosystem in cooperation with Seoul City and other universities, and in establishing the Seoul-style Neulbom School model to foster future talent.
