Ewha University-Industry Collaboration Foundation signed an MOU with Kumon for developing the Lifelong Learning Services for Senior Citizens on December 29th. The combination of the Age Integration Research Institute's research capacity and Kumon's systematic learning curriculum and contents under this MOU is expected to create a synergy. The MOU includes joint research for making a lifelong learning model for senior citizens and its viability analysis.

The Age Integration Research Institute has sought age-inclusive theories and policies, aiming to create an “age-integrative” society where age barriers do not exist. Under this MOU, Professor Soondool Chung (Director of the Age Integration Research Institute) and Researcher Haewon Shin (an invited researcher of the Age Integration Research Institute) will propose various ideas and education to resolve the issues of the aging society of Korea.

Kumon's mainstay has been educational worksheets for kindergarteners and elementary schoolers, but the company is trying to reach a wider audience of senior citizens as well and offer differentiated customer experiences for older people, for the market size of lifelong learning services keeps growing. A Kumon official said, “We decided to collaborate with the Ewha University-Industry Collaboration Foundation to make a sustainable lifelong learning model encompassing childhood to old age in the super-aged society” and “we will create more opportunities to provide various educational services and enhance the competitiveness of Kumon under this collaboration.”
