Yoonseyoung Journalism School (YJS) of the Institute for Journalism Education (Director: Jae-Kyoung Lee) in the Graduate School of Policy Science scored 512 graduates working in the journalism industry as of late 2023.

The YJS, founded as Frontier Journalism School in 2007, is a leading institution for teaching the basics of journalism and training prospective journalists and PDs that has scored more than thirty graduates working in the journalism industry every year since 2014. The school provides various courses, such as Regular Course teaching journalism ethics and training for aspiring journalists and PDs and PREP Course teaching how to write news articles from scratch for those who wish to work in the journalism industry. The competition to enter the YJS is intense, for the school provides two-year-long education with the support of Seoam Yoon Se Young Foundation, and applying for the school is eligible for students and graduates of Ewha Womans University, as well as those who are not.

Based on effective curricula and instructions from experienced teachers, the YJS scored 237 graduates in the journalism industry from 2018 to 2022, when journalism organizations hired fewer people. Sixty-seven students out of the 237 students started working in the journalism industry in 2018. In 2023, forty-five graduates began working as journalists and PDs this year (as of December 31st), marking once again the YJS's strength as one of the best journalism schools that boasts 512 graduates in the journalism industry.

When categorized by job types, journalists accounted for four-thirds (424) of the 512 graduates, followed by PD (78) and those who are in other media-related organizations (10). When categorized by media group title, those in Dong-a Media Group with companies like Dong-a Ilbo, Channel A, and Dong-A EZEDU (50) took up the largest share, followed by those in Chosun Media Group (45) and Money Today (41). When categorized by company titles, the number of those in KBS (34) was the largest, followed by JoongAng Ilbo and JTBC(27), Dong-a Ilbo (25), and MBC(21).

“I am so grateful for the students who follow the curriculum well and show outstanding performance even when they find the practicum-based curriculum of the YJS challenging,” said Professor Sang Keun Song. “I am so proud of students who sincerely pursue their dream of working in the journalism industry even when the confidence in journalism and the influence of journalism plummet and distrust in journalists increases,” said Professor Song.
