Students can Engage in the Whole Process of Investigative Research, from Designing Research to Writing Research Report

College of Social Sciences (Dean: Mi-Kyeong Cha) hosted the presentation session of Ewha RSSR Investigative Research on July 18th (Tue), concluding the Ewha RSSR (Real Social Science Research) Program 2023.

Ewha RSSR Program is one of the specialization programs provided by the College of Social Sciences. Students from the College of Social Sciences organize a team, design and carry out investigative research that involves research activities and taking social science courses in different schools at home and abroad. The program was launched in 2017 and has recruited participants every spring semester, except from 2020 to 2022 because of the covid-19 pandemic.

After covid-19 became endemic, the program resumed after a three-year hiatus with seven teams of twenty-five grantees who were selected after the evaluation. The students carried out investigative research in Japan, the U.S., Australia, and European countries from June 21st to July 12th. The achievements of the investigative research were presented at the presentation session of Ewha RSSR Investigative Research, which took place at Auditorium 153 in Ewha-POSCO Building on July 18th (Tue) at 11 A.M.

“Every team’s overseas investigative research had a lot of difficulties, such as unexpected changes in the plan, interviewees not showing up for interviews and long-distance travel,” said Professor Jin Lee, the head of the jury. “But I think this program and the presentation session was an opportunity to learn a lot for other teams who did not win the prize,” he added, encouraging the students who strived for two months for the program but did not win the prizes.
