Professor Dong Beon Kang of Ewha Law School Wins the 9th “Ryu Kichyun Legal Culture Award”

Professor Dong Beon Kang of Ewha Law School won the 9th “Ryu Kichyun Legal Culture Award.”


At the 9th Ryu Kichyun Legal Culture Awards and the 18th Wol Song Memorial Symposium held on September 27, 2022, Professor Dong Beon Kang was awarded the Ryu Kichyun Legal Culture Award for his contribution to the development of Korean criminal law culture through research and writing activities as well as academic and public service based on his excellent skill, personality and virtue. The Ryu Kichyun Legal Culture Awards is given to those who have made remarkable contributions to the development of Korean law to pass on and develop the ideas and academic achievements of Professor Ryu Kichyun, a pioneer of Korean criminal law.


Professor Dong Beon Kang is in charge of criminal law and criminal procedure law at Ewha Law School, and has long been a representative criminal law scholar who has been interested in cybercrime and economic criminal law and served as the dean of Ewha Law School and Department of Law. Professor Kang has published more than 10 books (including co-authored books) and 60 papers in listed academic journals such as Criminal Justice Research and Criminal Policy, and served as a director of the Korean Association of Comparative Criminal Law, editor-in-chief of the Korean Association of Criminal Law and the president of Korean Association of Criminology. Currently, as the president of the Korean Association of Criminal Case Studies, he is playing a significant role in promoting academic and human exchanges. He also has worked for Seoul Western District Court, Supreme Prosecutors’ Office, and Ministry of Justice.
