Graduate students Lee A-young, Kim Hyunhee, Kim Suin, and Kim Sujin of the Department of Child Development and Family Studies (advisor: Professor Lee Woonkyung) won the Grand Prize at the “2026 Korean Association of Family Policy Family Policy and Program Idea Contest” hosted by the Korean Association of Family Policy. Their award-winning proposal, titled “A Mobile Family Center Model Based on the RFSNI: A Needs-Based Support Framework to Reduce Regional and Family Center Capacity Gaps,” was recognized for its innovative approach to family policy.
The proposal drew attention to disparities in access to family services and differences in family center capacities across regions. It received high praise for developing quantitative indicators based on the RFSNI (Regional Family Support Needs Index), which incorporates regional emotional support needs as well as gaps in service provision and center capacity. Based on these indicators, the team proposed a model that integrates mobile family services to better address regional disparities.
Lee A-young, who presented the proposal during the Korean Association of Family Policy’s thematic session at the 2026 Spring Joint Academic Conference in the field of Human Ecology, remarked, “It was a meaningful opportunity to introduce our policy proposal in a forum where researchers and practitioners came together. Going forward, I hope to contribute to enhancing the effectiveness of family policies through research that reflects the needs and urgency of real-world practice.”
Kim Hyunhee shared, “I will continue conducting research to identify practical solutions for supporting child development therapy and family counseling services for families who are unable to receive assistance due to accessibility barriers and other real-world challenges.”
Kim Suin stated, “I will continue to explore and research policies and practical ideas that can support the well-being and everyday lives of children and families.”
Finally, Kim Sujin said, “I will remain interested in policies that strengthen family functioning and continue learning and conducting research together with my colleagues.”
