The BK21 Interdisciplinary Program in Systems Health (Director: Kim Yuri) held the “2025 BK21 Workshop for the Interdisciplinary Program in Systems Health” on Monday, December 22, at Lee Sam Bong Hall in the Ewha Campus Complex (ECC).
This year’s workshop was organized and supported by the 4IR-Based Healthcare Professional Training Education and Research Group and the Ewha Frontier 10-10 Food and Nutrition Project Group. It was designed to share the latest research trends and interdisciplinary research outcomes in the field of systems health, while expanding exchange and collaboration among next-generation researchers. This year’s event was attended by a total of 141 participants, including 118 graduate students, 21 faculty members, and 2 postdoctoral researchers, marking a strong turnout.
The workshop was moderated by Professor Cha Ji-young of the College of Nursing and began with a welcome address by Kim Yuri, Dean of the College of Future Industry Convergence and Director of the BK21 Program, who shared the purpose of the workshop and its future vision. The program featured a series of lectures on diverse topics such as artificial intelligence, precision nutrition, entrepreneurship, and bio–mechanical convergence materials, delivered by experts from industry and academia as well as Ewha researchers.
Dr. Park Jongkwon, Team Leader at the Deepnoid AI Research Institute, gave a lecture titled “Multimodal AI for Radiology,” introducing the potential applications of artificial intelligence in the field of medical imaging. Professor Park Yoonjung of the Department of Nutritional Science and Food Management presented “Precision Nutrition for Longevity,” proposing strategies for extending healthy life expectancy based on precision nutrition.
Professor Lee Taeyong, CEO of Human Performance Lab, shared insights into the importance of industry-linked research based on his experience transitioning from researcher to entrepreneur. In the New Faculty Outstanding Research Introduction session, Professor Baek Ji-eung and Professor Lee Sang-ryun presented their research achievements on next-generation bio-therapeutic technologies and machine–AI convergent materials. In addition, Professor Ha Eunhee, Director of the Ewha Global Social Contribution Institute, introduced the institute’s vision and global collaboration strategies, emphasizing the social expansion potential of interdisciplinary research.
In the afternoon, a poster session showcasing global elite talent research outcomes was held, during which BK21-participating graduate students shared their research成果. An awards ceremony and prize drawing followed, providing motivation and encouragement for research activities. After the workshop, a dinner reception offered participants an opportunity for free exchange and networking.
Through this workshop, the BK21 Interdisciplinary Program in Systems Health aims to further strengthen the foundation for interdisciplinary research in systems health and accelerate the cultivation of global research talent that will lead the future of healthcare.
