The Chair-Professor Nam Wonwoo's Team Succeeded in Developing Green Catalyst
The chair-professor Nam Wonwoo's team has succeeded in developing original technology for producing green catalyst that will replace metal catalyst that cause environmental pollution.
The research was led by Ewha chair-professor Nam Wonwoo and professor Shunichi Fukuzumi from Osaka University and doctor Lee Young Min from Ewha participated. The research was carried as a part of 'Global Research Lab' projected conducted by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and National Research Foundation of Korea. The result of the research will be published on a prestigious scientific journal, Nature Chemistry on November 28.

The team identified the mechanism that increases the speed of electron transport in the chemical reaction of oxygenase and also developed the intermediate oxygenase which is indispensable for establishing environment-friendly catalyst system, using solar energy and water for the first time in the world.
Professor Nam said, "This development is an environment friendly technology thatwill decrease the emission of Carbon Dioxide. We expect this technology will devote to develop alternative energies without pollution."
